The City of San Diego passed a law on November 13, 2007 requiring San Diego residents, businesses and special events to recycle plastic and glass bottles and jars, paper, cardboard, and metal cans. This law will help San diegans:
1. Extend the life of the Miramar Landfill, which is forecasted to close in 2012
2. Save natural resources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions
3. Reduce the risk of state fines
As of January 1, 2008 customers with City-provided recycling service are now required to place all recyclable materials into their blue recycling cart. Businesses, apartments/condominimums and special events must meet certian recycling requirements starting February 11, 2008.
