What Makes a green Car....green?

Hybrid cars are all the buzz right now, but what makes a green car green? A perfectly green car would be made from 100% renewable resources and would not create any biproduct such as air pollutants during operation. Oh, and it should be completely bio-degradable or recyclable. For now, we need to measure things such as air pollutants, green house gas emissions, fuel economy, and energy use during production and disposal.

Alternative Energy Cars

leaf <---- Using the links to the left, you will see that there are a number of alternatives to the typical gas guzzler in our driveways, however, there are compromises to be made with most of them, which is why none of them are popular yet. Green Stats on Current Car Models

The EPA's Green Vehicle Guide is an excellent source documenting the environmental performance of current cars and provides the user with dynamic search and sort capabilities. Side-by-side comparisons can be performed and ratings include: air pollution, greenhouse gases, fuel economy and SmartWay & SmartWay Elite designations. Another similar government resource is FuelEconomy.gov.

Motorcycles....not so green

Sure we get better gas mileage, but without any emissions standards (yes, you heard me, none), motorcycles are as dirty as a 1950's chevy.
